FIE’s web site was established in 1997 and has developed enormously over the intervening years. It is now data base driven, hosted on optic servers by and designed by .The site offers not only an up to date record of our work, but also supports two specialised services provided by volunteers. .
One is TIPT, The Irish Papers Today, a digest of stories about that Irish environment from Irish and other papers. These are posted to the TIPT website, which now holds more than 10,000 stories and is the best single source of information on the current Irish environmental problems on the internet.
The other is the Forest Network Newsletter [FNN], established in 2000 to educate activists about the complex question surrounding Irish forestry policy. This Newsletter has developed into a forum for debate between foresters and their critics, reprinting key news stories and parliamentary questions and producing articles examining a wide range of topical issues. It has subscribers in a wide range of countries.
FIE is a network of environmentalists; it is not a membership organisation and so cannot rely on annual subscriptions. In many senses, all those who subscribe to our news services and newsletters – TIPT and FNN (or visit our websites) are our members, but they pay no subscription. This page enables everyone to contribute to our work.
